During the past 48 hours, the movement of navigation and cargo handling at the General Authority of Alexandria Port witnessed remarkable activity, as 56 ships entered and exited the berths of Alexandria and Dekheila ports within 48 hours. Work is also underway to load and unload 29 ships, most notably container ships and dry and liquid bulk ships. The movement of goods trading, in turn, also witnessed great activity, as approximately 203 thousand tons were traded during that period of goods of various types and strategic commodities such as liquid bulk, dry bulk and general cargo. With regard to containers, about 2103 equivalent containers were handled in the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila. Major General Nihad Shaheen Ali - Chairman of the Board of Directors directed the need to follow up on weather observations to ensure the safety and conduct of navigation traffic in the port, as well as adherence to insurance and industrial security, safety and occupational health procedures in all warehouses, yards and work sites, and to follow standard environmental standards in all port operations to prevent pollution in all its forms and monitor the water surface.
